Menorca

by

Hola amigos!
This week I want to talk to you about my new summer discovery, the island of Menorca. We all have heard about Ibiza, Mallorca, but Menorca is one of the best kept secrets in the Mediterranean.

HOW TO GET HERE:

Menorca is one of the Balearic islands located right next to Mallorca. To get here you should come by plane, has many daily flights direct to the island from Barcelona and there are also direct flights here from London. You can also take a boat from an island next door or take the 3 hour ferri from Barcelona and you can bring the car with you.

WHERE TO STAY:

Menorca has preserved itself from the construction and hotel boom and therefore the hotels you will find here are small and simple.
In my opinion the best choice is to rent an apartment or villa, or the other option that I always recommend when it comes to summer destinations is to rent a boat since all the top caves are best accessible by sea. Book yours with the top Boat rental company .

WHAT TO DO:

Menorca is the place to be if you are looking to spend some days at the sea, relaxing, tanning and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. It is the anti show-off destination, you should come here to disconnect and bend with the natural wonders the island has to offer.
Grab your snorkel kit and jump to explore the underwater world!
You can also get a private tour by a local on the typical LLaut boat. More info about Menorca En LLaut on my post here

WHERE TO GO:

Binibeca Beach: Turquoise waters at its best and probably one of the most beautiful beach bars I have seen. Easy access by car.
Macarella beach: Super beautiful beach, they have filmed many ads and movies here because its super amazing. However the access by car is limited and there is a 20 minute walk after to access the sea.
: Compulsory stop in the island, this cave converted into a club is the perfect place for some dancing at night! Order the typical Menorca drink, ‘Pomada’ made of from the island and 7up. Seems very light and its so easy to drink! You will tell me how you feel after a couple of drinks haha πŸ˜‰
Illa den Colom: A super cute little island with the most cristal clear waters located in front of Es Grau village, access by boat only!
Faro de FavΓ ritx: The most magical (and not famously known) place in Menorca to watch the sunset! Sit accross the cliff and enjoy the views.
As RoviTips I would tell you to bring some water-rock walking shoes, as if you want to find the best sea caves away from people you will need to climb in between the rocks and sea urchins!

WHERE TO EAT:

: the best seafood restaurant in Menorca, in the center of Cuitadella. The most popular food to order here is the lobster caldereta. You cannot miss the grilled mussels and the swordfish carpaccio! Delicious!
: The place to be in the island, the coolest restaurant by the harbor of Mahon. I want to give special thanks to the owner Juan, for his amability and showing us the super cool lounge he has created upstairs the restaurant that is probably the most fancy place in the island! Ask for Oki the super talented Japanese sushi chef and his famous sushi boat! ( you will see it soon on my menorca youtube video!)
: This is a delicatessen shop where you can find the best JamΓ³n and the typical sobrasada in the island!
: Sometimes I just cant resist going to Mexican restaurants because I love the food! I had to try this one in the harbor of MahΓ³n preparing a super delicous guacamole and frozen margaritas! Order the tacos of cochinita pibil! Top top.
Opera: Italian at the port of Maho, enjoy the views of the boats while you have dinner. I recommend you to try the beef carpaccio and the focaccia.
The Beach Bar at Binibeca beach. The place is beautiful with tables almost on top of the water. Here the special is the tuna salad and the grilled chicken. Very relaxed and casual beach bar, so no need to dress up!

SHOPPING:

Riccy Maho: The best multibrand store where you will find dresses, accessories, bags from the brands such as Moschino, Tous

Pons Quintana: A Typical shoe brand from the island sold worldwide! Check out their cool summer sandals!

ROVITIPS:

To end with the perfect trip I’m going to give you a highlight of one of my favourite places that you will not find in the tourist guides. This place is a secret beach called Mongofre, only accessible by boat. Once you arrive the Cala (cave) take a swim to the shore and walk up the cliff ( take your shoes with you there are some rocks and wild plants ) and once you get to the top of the hill you will see the most amazing view of the sea and the Menorca nature.

Thank you for reading!! My Menorca adventures on my YouTube channel this wednesday, subscribe and stay tuned! πŸ˜‰

See you in Menorca!

Love,
Mon Rovi

pomada is made of gin xoriguer and lemon juice, we never use 7up for pomada. in Ciutadella is called “gin amb llimonada” and in mahon “pomada”, but always the same.

What do you think?
